Oxford Thinking: The Campaign for the University of Oxford

Last week, I attended a chi-chi social event for Oxford alumni in Singapore. The reason for the event? The Chancellor of the university was in town to meet with its alumni. The reason I went? To see the Chancellor, Lord Chris Patten, who wrote a new book in the stores called What Next?, but is probably more remembered for being the last British governor of Hong Kong before the handover in 1997. He gave a short and witty speech and I was delighted to learn that he read History at Oxford too! But perhaps the highlight of the night for me was meeting up with old friends from Oxford whom I haven’t seen for ages and probably thought I would never meet again for we have lost touch (and Facebook’s reach has somehow eluded this group of friends). Caught up with Yong Seng, Fred, Meifeng, Weishi, Qingxiang which was really a nice surprise! =)
