Do It Anyhow

Recently been thinking quite a bit about the idea of fear with regards to trying out new things. One of my friends has a beautiful tattoo on her back which reads:

“My fear is greater than my faith

But I walk.”

Another friend’s MSN tagline has this line:

“Do It Afraid. Do It Anyhow.”

And lastly a few lines from Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure:

Our doubts are traitors,

And make us lose the good we oft might win

By fearing to attempt.”

But why do we fear? And what do we fear more? The known or the unknown? The saying goes that we don’t know until we try. So by trying, we may find that the known is not exactly as scary as we envisaged and the unknown may not even materialise! Indeed it has been said that there are many ways of moving forward, but only one way of standing still. So keep moving, keep trying, keep living! =)
