All I give to Thee is but Thine

When we give to God, we are really giving Him what He has given to us. It’s a strange little cycle, because when we hold on tight to the things we have, we only need to pause for a second to remember that all things come from God and that we are merely stewards of these things – holding on to them only for a while. And God certainly doesn’t need our gifts, for “He owns the cattle on a thousand hills”. So why give? Because giving reveals the conditions of our hearts – for what we give determines how we live. (see previous entry: Quote on ‘giving’)

But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You. 1 Chronicles 29:14
