Way? Truth? Life?

These are probably the 3 most important questions that we will ever ask in our lives at some point or other. And in fact, they were asked at different points by different men in different parts of the Bible – but all having the same answer. Let’s look at the 3 men who asked these 3 questions:

1. In John 14:5, Thomas asks Jesus, “Where shall we go?”

2. In John 18:38, Pilate asks Jesus, “What is truth?”

3. In John 3:9, Nicodemus asks Jesus, “How can we have life?”

And in one verse, Jesus answers them all – “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6).

In our world that is increasingly devoid of certainty and absolutes, I believe we need simple anchors such as these to keep us sure and steadfast. In the words of the beautiful hymn, “to cling to the old rugged Cross”.

Where is the way? What is the truth? How do I find life?
