Learning to embrace the beauty that is imperfection.

In my quest to teach my students about sometimes embracing the beauty of imperfection, I stumbled across these beautiful lines in that infamous article by Catherine Lim written in 1994 that earned her the opprobrium of then-PM Goh.

“In the process of narrowing this Affective Divide, the Government will learn that lecturing and hectoring are sometimes less effective than a pat on the back, that mistakes may just be as instructive as success and are therefore forgivable, that efficiency and generosity of spirit are not mutually exclusive, that compassion is not necessarily a sign of effeteness.”

This reminds me of what I posted in the ‘About Me’ page of this blog, recounting things I have learned in life so far (here!).
